Substantive Editing

$60 per hour

Your story, essay, memoir, or novel is evaluated for:

  • character and story development

  • power and efficacy of language (including description and dialogue)

  • general readability and “flow”

Carol Morrison provides insightful, supportive feedback via specific notations on each page of your manuscript, as well as a well-formatted, clear, written assessment. Although her notations and critiques are clear and specific, if the writer wants additional feedback, Carol offers the option of a phone session, charged at the same rate as the edit.

In order to offer you the most efficient service, Carol prefers to receive your manuscript via U.S. mail.  Please include a return envelope with the appropriate postage for the return of your manuscript and critique letter.

Turn-around time depends on your manuscript’s length and the number of projects Carol’s editing.  You may wish to correspond with her via e-mail or phone as to the best time to send your work.
